NHW Leaders,

August 5, 2008 is the 25th Anniversary of National Night Out (NNO), an annual event designed to strengthen our neighborhood by building stronger relationships with each other and with our local law enforcement partners. Our goal is to heighten crime-prevention awareness and build support and participation for our local Neighborhood Watch efforts so we can live in a safe and secure community.

We encourage you to participate in this National Night Out, with communities all over America, by hosting a Block party or BBQ and inviting the neighbors in your Block to come and get acquainted on August 5th. It can be an evening of conversation and fun together with people you may not know very well. It’s a good chance to welcome new folks on your Block.

The links shown above are several .pdf files with information you might find useful for promoting NNO. One is a ready made invitation that you can fill in, make copies, and deliver to your neighbors in the next couple weeks. Then you can follow up by Email or a visit to encourage your neighbors to attend. There also some games for kids.

We hope you will see the importance of building better relationships with your neighbors by just getting to know each other, so we can make our community safer and more secure for our families. Have a great get together and let your District or Area Coordinator know you are hosting a party for National Night Out. Thank you for your involvement in this important part of our community. “Neighbors Helping Neighbors!”
