Reminder of the Month
Car jacking isn't a common crime in our area but a couple have occurred in the last year.
Doors should be kept locked while driving so a car jacker cannot open a door while you are waiting at a light.
Passengers sitting in cars waiting for the driver are vulnerable, especially if the keys have been left in the ignition. When going to your car in a parking lot, keep an eye out for people loitering. This is especially true late at night, double so for women alone. It is better to return to the shopping mall, restaurant or bar and wait until the person has left the area or have someone walk you to your car.
